Nadi project

As of today I got appointed as a teacher. The first position is at the Martintar public primary school for just 2 weeks. It is a summer school. Then after the summer a private school "Namaka Methodist Kindergarten" located in Nadi, Fiji will be my next position. there I will work for 2 months.

The children at the kindergarten are Fijian, Hindus, Rotumans and others. My role is essentially an extra pair of hands and participate. Besides helping with the day-to-day management of the center I have the freedom to come up with lessons, games and activities. Think about basic English and mathematics lessons, art, music, drama and sport.

My tasks

  • supervising the children
  • collecting toys
  • assisting the teachers
  • Participation in school activities
  • involve the children in playing, talking, singing

The children in the kindergarten follow a daily schedule that shows what the activities are during the course of the morning:

  • 8.00 - 08:40 - play
  • 8.40 - 09:00 - Religious education
  • 9 am - 9:20 am - Talk to the children
  • 9.20 - 09:40 - Music and movement
  • 9.40 - 10.00 - Indoor activities such as painting / drawing
  • 10.00 - 10:30 - Break
  • 10.30 - 10:50 - Outdoor activities / stories
  • 10.50 - 11:10 - Prayer and rest.
